Our favorite travel websites to inspire your next big adventure
We love finding off-the-beaten-path travel ideas or even new ways to explore old favorites. And while you can catch up on all our ideas from past newsletters here on Portico Dispatches, peruse our regularly updated Discover page or follow along with Portico’s Instagram, there’s a lot of other amazing travel content out there that we love. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, these are some of our go-to resources:
- Indagare – For luxurious dreaming about unusual destinations, secret insights, and life-changing travel.Â
- FED Guides – For those who crave authentic food and drink, FED Guides curate insider recs from chefs, sommeliers, and bartenders about where to eat, drink, and shop.
- The Infatuation – Speaking of Foodies…the team shows up at restaurants unannounced, eats there several times, and then writes a forthright review. It’s a trusted resource for a good meal.
- @accidentallywesanderson – For quirky views and cinephile insights inspired by the visual aesthetic of Wes Anderson. It started as a Brookly based couple’s hobby to track their bucket list but has evolved into much more. And if you’re tired of screens check out their gorgeous coffee table book.Â
- Atlas Obscura – Truly for those that like getting off the beaten path, Atlas Obscura recommends the less touristy sights for you to explore. Â
- Context Travel – For the intellectually curious, whether it’s learning about history, architecture, art or food. Start with online seminars and then cap it off IRL with a small group tour led by scholars and specialists. Our team has been singing their praises for 20 years!
- Tablet Hotels – We love boutique hotels and searching for one is easy with Tablet. We know staying at one of their recommended spots (and at all price levels) will mean a great experience.Â
- AFAR – Focused on experiential travel, they have a comprehensive list of travel guides and they’re a great resource for travel news.Â
- Luxe Guides – These stylish pocket-size guides packed with savvy, unexpected suggestions and quirky humor just might inspire you to go back to paper. They’re easy to digest at a glance, but if you’re over 40, don’t forget your readers! If you do buy a print guide, you get the digital for free.
- Fodor’s Travel – While it’s been around forever, Fodor’s is still great at providing inspiration for you based on your travel interests, as well as by destination.Â
