GENERAL INFORMATION

A popular area of Old Town filled with restaurants and bars, plus a Saturday market. Enjoy a beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle at one end and connect to other popular streets of Old Town from the other, including the Cowgate (bars and live music) and also Victoria Street (filled with colorful buildings and mistakenly credited with inspiring Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books).

Insider Tip

Many of these pubs also boast interesting insights. Check out the plaque outside Maggie Dickson’s, step into The Wee Pub for a tiny live music venue, and dare to visit The Last Drop for its dark history reflecting the gallows that once ominously stood in the Grassmarket.
